Even the Odds
Decisional exists to even the odds—against the doomer narrative, against capital concentration, and for small teams with taste and ingenuity.
The Story
Every startup or idea starts with a story. Decisional spent a lot of time learning from people, trying out things in order to discover ours.
We exist to even the odds.
The Doomer Narrative
There is a doomer narrative taking place in the world: that there is machinery of trillions in AI capex investment to replace all of knowledge work. What you and I spent our careers becoming good at—in my case, building software products—was all for naught.
We are in the crosshairs and there is nothing we can do about it. It will all be replaced. The government needs to step in with UBI. The permanent underclass. People with access to tokens and compute will win: the foundation labs, the F10 enterprises that have a backchannel with the ones in the know.
But I want to question that.
What Still Matters
There is nothing of value in this world that isn't built by human ingenuity.
We have quickly formed a defense mechanism for things that are missing this—slop—and a word for articulating what is missing—taste.
Small Teams Win
Small teams are showing us the way. The biggest AI mammoths are being beaten back.
- Foundation lab launched AI transcription — beaten back by Granola.
- Foundation lab launched AI browser — Comet by Perplexity still leads.
- Foundation lab launches a slop cannon video social app — video gen startups like Fal are thriving.
- These companies have amassed a trillion dollars in value aimed at building AI assistants — one person with an itch ships a general agent like OpenClaw that ends up on their roadmaps.
- Conductor (our YC batchmate) discovers how people want to use multiple agents in parallel — now being copied by the labs.
- The big guys like Meta are all floundering in the face of disruption with no clue what to do except acquiring small teams that have found the way (Manus).
Don't listen to this narrative of fear. Everything is up for grabs. And even if it were not, you must rage into the dying light.
It's not how many tokens you burn, but what you get at the end of those burned tokens that matter.
Even the Odds
We built Decisional to help any business use agentic workflows.
Because the average business or startup doesn't have a budget for experimental tokens — they need ROI and a platform that can even the odds against the goliaths. English is the new programming language and all you need to use agents.
Decisional exists to even the odds.
